Coolermaster Cosmos 2 Review By: Tantric | Published: February 22, 2012
Probably one of the most talked about and most anticipated PC Case this year. Cooler Master’s flagship, the Cosmos 2 is finally here. It’s been a long wait and Cooler Master surely took a great deal of time before releasing a worthy successor to one of their most successful and best selling case. And this time they really
soap but gotten won’t: all I -.
didn’t disappoint with the cosmos 2.
Upon seeing the box. All I can say to myself was, “wow! this thing is huge”. Weighing in at around 22 kilos, unboxing this beast was a chore by itself. Probably one of the biggest cases available in the market today, if not the biggest.
- External Appearance and Features:
The Cosmos 2 case comes with an all black aluminum external finish, with a combination of plastic and steel internal essay writing
discount construction. At first who can do my assigment glance we can clearly see that the case inherits most of its design from http://spyoncell-phone.com/ its predecessor, but with a few added features and enhancements. One striking feature which I also liked about this case, is the sliding front panel door. A small mechanism makes the front door slide down with slight push. Giving it a “cool effect”.
Moving on to the top of the case, we can see the custom control panel that also
comes with a sliding door cover. The panel consist of the on/off switches, a built-in fan controller, audio, eSATA and USB ports. The design of the buttons kind of remind me of my old nokia phone
Just behind the control panel is the top panel cover, constructed out of mesh
and plastic material. It looks similar to the Cosmos-S case and can easily be removed by unscrewing a single thumbscrew at the back of the case. The top panel can accommodate a single 360 radiator, without any modifications. Sadly this case can only fit slim radiators up to 45mm thick.
The Cosmos 2 also has the signature
carrying handles, “trademark” to the old cosmos case. They are well built and adds aesthetics and functionality to the case.
Another cool feature of this case, which makes it unique to all other cases in the market today phone spy app free is the side panels. Like the previous cosmos cases . The side panels can be opened by pressing the locks on the rear of the case. What makes the Cosmos 2 panels unique is the custom hinge, which enables it to swing open on both sides. The hinge mechanism also acts as a bracket which holds the side panel on to the case. The construction of the hinge is sturdy, doesn’t wiggle and easily holds the weight of the panels without any problems.
The case panels feature a layer construction http://spyappforcellphone.com/ of brushed aluminum, plastic and sound dampening material. Slotted vents on both sides also provide additional airflow. Although this is a welcome addition to some. The side panel construction makes it a bit tedious for case modders to add a custom window : (. I hope Cooler Master releases a “mod friendly” version of the side panels in the future.
Cooler Master did a great job in designing this case. Looking inside, we can clearly see the the interior is well laid out and designed with HDD storage and Liquid Cooling in mind. The front of the case features three 5.25″ bays and two hot swap 3.5″ drive bays. On the interior there are five removable HDD cages and another six HDD cages on the bottom part of the case. A total of 13 Hard drives. Talk about all the porn you can store on this baby ;D
Continuing on to the bottom part of the paraphrasing help case we can see two 120mm fans , these fans help cool the six HDD’s just behind it. The fan brackets also feature a swing mechanism, which makes installing and removing the HDD fast and easy.
The two bottom HDD cages can also be swapped-out with a custom bracket, which can hold a 240mm radiator. You can actually install 2 x 240mm radiators on the bottom of the case.
This case also features 10 x PCI slots. Great news for those with a 4 way SLI and Quadfire setups. The PCI slot covers are also vented to maximize airflow. They even included matching black thumbscrews, Sweet! I’m glad the engineers at Cooler Master decided not to use those flimsy tool-less PCI locking mechanisms.
There is also a custom PSU bracket for extended power supplies. Below the PSU is a removable and washable filter. This helps minimize dust accumulation inside the case. The case stands now also include a rubber feet, to protect them from scratches.
component selection will not be a problem with the cosmos 2. The design and layout used by Cooler Master allows for plenty of flexibility in terms of component choice. The motherboard tray is able to support E-ATX/XL ATX boards, 10 PCI Express slots and up to 38.5cm long graphics cards. The back of the motherboard tray also has enough room for wire management.
A few years back, Cooler Master made a name for themselves with the release of the original Cosmos 1000 and Cosmos-S cases. And now with the Cosmos 2, they are again redefining what computer case design should be. Clean , simple, not so flashy design, spacious interiors, ample storage space and optimized airflow design.
This case looks more like a high end sports car, with its smooth lines and clean aesthetic appearance. There’s really nothing to complain about this case. The features and build quality alone makes it a truly worthwhile investment. For serious builders and enthusiast’s, this case is definitely money well spent!
I guess the only thing a lot of people will complain about this case is the price and weight. Without any parts installed this case already weighs a TON. I can only imagine how heavy this thing will be with a high end system and full liquid cooling setup installed inside. OMG!
Build Quality: 9/10
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED ! ! !
